BBC correspondent Kim Ghattas said Donald Trump seemed to be operating at times in an “alternative reality” where “some of the facts that are simply facts…don’t exist.”
In an interview on MSNBC’s Morning Joe Monday, Ghattas compared Trump to Middle Eastern leaders:
“There have been moments in this election where I have felt that I have been catapulted back to the Middle East, where political candidates, politicians sometimes operate in this alternate reality where the facts don’t matter, where there is creeping violence in their language, and where nothing sticks because the bond between them and their supporters seems unbreakable because it comes from a place of unquestioned loyalty.”

Ghattas’ comment comes after a weekend interview with ABC News where Trump said Russia was not in Ukraine, despite having annexed Crimea. This morning on CBS, former NSA and CIA director Michael Hayden said Trump’s remarks were “devoid of facts and divorced from traditional U.S. policy.”
