Atlanta Snow Snarls Commute for CNN Staffers

Atlanta-based CNN staffers ran into some traffic problems caused by the winter storm during their commute yesterday. On Twitter, Carol Costello detailed the experience of being stuck in the CNN parking lot for an hour before finally giving up and going back inside.

Costello explained in more detail on Facebook, writing that “people in, say Chicago, would laugh at the utter chaos this has caused.”

I tried to get out of CNN’s parking lot at 1:00. After waiting in a line of departing employees for an hour I gave up. Luckily other co-workers did too. We waited together for two hours until the traffic cleared. Except it never did. I left work again at 5 (I get up at 4am) and got out of the parking lot. I live two miles away. It took me two hours to get home. I saw no salt trucks. No plows. No police directing traffic. I feel lucky though. Some people are still stuck in traffic. Kyra Phillips was stuck for 7 hours. Mr Mayor, what the hell?

Costello confronted the director of Atlanta’s emergency management agency over the city’s response to the weather on CNN this morning, the Huffington Post points out.
