MSNBC chief legal correspondent Ari Melber will host a new Sunday evening series for MSNBC which will focus on the Trump administration.
The Wrap first reported that The Point will run for 10 weeks, beginning tomorrow, from 5 – 7 p.m. Each 2-hour episode will endeavor to cover everything Trump-related, including a seemingly never-ending war with the news media. The final episode is set to air on April 30.
Melber, who has interviewed luminaries including Supreme Court Justice Stephen Breyer, former AG Eric Holder, Judge Richard Posner, U.S. Solicitor General Don Verilli, as well as a trio of senators in Rand Paul, Ted Cruz, and Al Franken, will most certainly have the opportunity to expand that roster with this new series coming at such a pivotal time.
A limited series is rare for MSNBC, particularly on weekend afternoons and evenings when the program lineup primarily consists of newsroom, repeats and crime docuseries. It will be interesting to see if The Point is able to kickstart MSNBC’s Sunday ratings, and if there’s an opportunity for it to be extended after the 10 week run.
