Angels announcers don wrestling masks to spur late-game rally

By Cam Martin

Last night’s Red Sox-Angels game ended around 3 a.m. EDT, thanks to a two-hour rain delay and a contest that stretched into 13 innings. By the last frame, Angels’ announcers Victor Rojas and Mark Gubicza were willing to try just about anything to end the madness – and so they donned “rally wrestling masks” emblazoned with the Angels logo, souvenirs that will actually be part of an upcoming fan giveway.

Well it obviously worked, because the Angels finally broke through in the 13th inning and won 3-2. Perhaps Rojas and Gubicza have started something to replace the rally monkey. We can hope, because the rally monkey is really played out.
