Anderson Cooper’s ‘Little Old Man Baby’ Comment Has Him In Hot Water In Peru

Andersoon Cooper has fallen out of favor with some of his global audience. First, in the Philippines, where this week Cooper is covering the aftermath of Typhoon Haiyan. Cooper has drawn the ire of Filipino journalist Korina Sanchez —whose married to Philippine Interior Secretary Mar Roxas—for critical comments he made on-air about the Philippine government’s response. On her radio show Sanchez remarked that Cooper “doesn’t know what he’s saying.

Meanwhile, some people in Peru are none too happy with Cooper for mocking Miss Peru’s costume during last weekend’s Miss Universe competition.

“What says Peru more than colorful flowers in what appears to be a plastic little old man baby on her shoulder wearing a hat,” Cooper giggled during his “Ridiculist” segment last Wednesday, mocking Cindy Mejia’s costume.

Peru isn’t in on the joke, as Peru’s media has voiced outrage, demanding an apology from Cooper. They say his joke didn’t recognize the fact that Miss Peru’s costume represents the country’s traditional cloth worn by Peruvian women from the Mantaro Valley.
