This morning on “New Day,” Anderson Cooper revealed this year’s lineup of “CNN Heroes.”
Each of the 10 receives a $25,000 grant for their organization with one ultimately being selected by fans as the hero of the year.
The ceremony announcing the hero of the year will be on Sunday, December 7 at 8pmET on CNN.
Meet this year’s heroes:
Jon Burns, England: he and his volunteers help thousands of impoverished children living in World Cup and Eurogames cities.
Dr. Wendy Ross; Philadelphia, PA: her program has helped over 200 families with autistic children.
Juan Pablo Romero Fuentes, Guatemala: offered his family’s home as a refuge for young people, proving education and support for over 1,000 children.
Ned Norton; Albany, NY: For over 25 years, he’s worked with hundreds of disabled people on strength and conditioning.
Patricia Kelly; Hartford, CT: offers her farm as a resource for children, helping to keep them off the streets.
Leela Hazzah, Kenya: her group is preserving the lion population, transforming “Lion Killers” into “Lion Protectors.”
Arthur Bloom; Washington, DC: musician who has helped hundreds of Wounded Warriors at the Walter Reed Medical Center through music therapy.
Pen Farthing, England: former British officer reuniting soldiers with the stray animals they’ve befriended in war zones.
Annette March-Grier; Baltimore, Maryland: grew up in her family’s funeral home; today she helps children who’ve experienced loss.
Rabbi Elimelech Goldberg; Southfield, Michigan: helping cancer patients cope through martial arts.
