An Email Crisis In The CBS News DC Bureau

By Alex Weprin

CBS News staffers in DC had a to deal with some 21st century adversity today, as email service went down in the bureau for about 12 hours.

Email is the lifeblood of the 21st century reporter, and we hear that once staffers realized what was going on, the phones in the bureau got a workout the likes of which probably haven’t been seen in years. Of course, personal email accounts also sufficed.

Regular readers may recall that last year, CNN had to face an even more challenging problem, when the bureau lost all power for a few days. Generators let them produce the shows that originate from DC, but staffers had to get creative when it came to securing content to fill those hours
