ABC News political director Amy Walter is leaving the network and joining the Cook Political Report as National Editor. Walter had previously served as the senior editor of the Cook report from 1997 to 2007.
ABC News president Ben Sherwood announced the news on the network’s morning editorial call. In addition to heading up ABC’s politics coverage, Walter also hosted Web shows during the conventions. No word yet on a replacement — but the next national election is still a couple years away so there’s time.
Walter departs ABC News next month.
