“GMA” news anchor Amy Robach completed her 8th and final round of chemotherapy treatment for breast cancer yesterday. This morning she was back on the show filling in for Robin Roberts, who’s had her own well-documented medical battles. “I started out strong, and it gets harder as it goes along,” said Robach of the chemo treatments.

Last October, Robach had a routine exam as part of a “GMA” breast cancer awareness initiative. Little did she know doctors would find cancer, that she would undergo a double mastectomy, then go through months of grueling chemotherapy. “If several producers and even Robin Roberts herself hadn’t convinced me that doing this on live television would save lives, I would never have been able to save my own,” she said at the time.

This morning she told viewers, “I’m here today. Happy to share my story and encourage others.”
