Anne Sinclair, the American-born wife of IMF head Dominique Strauss-Kahn, is defending her husband against charges he sexually assaulted a hotel maid in Manhattan on Saturday.
Strauss-Kahn appeared in a Manhattan court this morning charged with attempted rape and unlawful imprisonment.
“I do not believe for a single second the accusations leveled against my husband,” Sinclair said in a statement yesterday.
Sinclair, whose parents were French, was born and raised in New York and finished her schooling in Paris. She hosted “7/7” one of the most popular political shows in France for 13 years. The show, often compared to Charlie Rose or “Larry King Live,” ran on TF1 from 1984-1997. She stepped away from the show when her husband was named French Finance Minister, but Sinclair remained in journalism. She covered the 2008 U.S. presidential race and has hosted a cultural radio program on the French equivalent of NPR.
The couple has lived in Washington since 2007, when Strauss-Kahn was named head of the IMF.
