Alexis Glick Joins Fox News Channel

By Brian

Former Today Show and CNBC correspondent Alexis Glick is the new director of business news for the Fox News Channel, the network announced today. She’ll report to Neil Cavuto, the VP and managing editor for business news.

“Neil made a great decision in tapping Alexis for this role,” Roger Ailes says. “After creating the top five business programs in cable news, I expect he and Alexis will work together to create an even stronger business unit and prepare for the launch of a possible business channel. While we are not announcing the launch of such a channel, hiring Alexis enables us to be prepared if plans move forward.

Glick will initially work off-air. “In the event FNC secures the distribution necessary to launch a business channel, Glick would also serve in an on-air capacity,” the press release says.

> July 21: Lloyd Grove said Glick was talking to FNC about an off-air job. (Her husband denied it…)

> June 21, 2005: “Glick could be the next Katie Couric…”

> Update: 1:11pm: “Good for Alexis Glick and GREAT for FNC,” an e-mailer says. “She’s a respected talent; CNBC was crazy to let her go to the vagaries of NBC in the first place…”
