Al Sharpton Is Making All Sorts of Headlines

By Brian Flood

al sharptonIt’s been a busy couple of weeks for MSNBC host Al Sharpton.

Sharpton has been criticized by numerous media outlets, including the New York Post, for turning the execution of two NYPD officers into a story about… well, Al Sharpton. The polarizing MSNBC host held up a cell phone during a press conference with the family of Eric Garner and played a threatening voicemail he received following the tragic executions of the NYPD officers. Sharpton denounced the killings in the same news conference.

Actor and activist James Woods called Sharpton a “pig” for his stance on police and has started a #PigSharpton Twitter campaign.

Just yesterday, Baltimore Fox affiliate WBFF issued an apology for airing a deceptive edit of a Sharpton-led protest video that made it sound like police protesters were chanting “kill a cop” when they were actually changing “’til killer cops are in cell blocks.”

We here at Fox45 work hard every day to earn your trust and bring you fair and comprehensive news from around the country. Although last night’s report reflected an honest misunderstanding of what the protesters were saying, we apologize for the error.

Not everyone is ready to look the other way at Sharpton’s actions. Judson Phillips of The Washington Times penned a column essentially calling for Sharpton’s job at MSNBC.

A week ago, Mr. Sharpton led a rally protesting the deaths of Michael Brown and Eric Garner. At the rally, people chanted, “What do we want? Dead cops.”

Retired NYPD detective Harry Houck even went on CNN to proclaim that “Al Sharpton got what he wanted,” when news was still breaking regarding the NYPD executions. Donald Trump also chimed in, telling Fox News, “I live in New York and I know Al Sharpton very well. I’ve dealt with him many times over the years, and he is a guy who I don’t believe really believes what he’s saying.” Trump went on to say, “He’s gotten away with a lot of murder.”

Despite all the drama, Shartpton still manages to host his show, “Politics Nation,” every weekday at 6 pm ET on MSNBC.
