Savannah Guthrie has been named co-host of the Rockefeller Center Christmas Tree lighting special two weeks from tonight on NBC.
Al Roker is back to co-host. This year’s special — airing at 8pmET/7pmCT with an extra hour at 7pm in select markets including New York, Philadelphia, Cincinnati, Louisville and Ft. Myers — will feature performances by Tony Bennett, Justin Bieber, Michael Bublé, and Faith Hill.
This is the 79th year a tree has been placed in Rockefeller Center. This year’s tree — a 74-foot Norway Spruce — comes from a Pennsylvania family’s front yard.
Guthrie was named co-anchor of the third hour of “Today” this summer. On today’s show she and Roker along with actress Olivia Wilde unveiled the Swarovski star that will sit atop the tree.
