ADL: Glenn Beck should apologize for linking Reform Judaism to radical Islam

By Chris Ariens

The Anti-Defamation League is calling on radio talk show and Fox News host Glenn Beck to apologize for comments he made on his radio show yesterday.

Beck’s point was that rabbis of Reform Judaism are more political than they are religious.

“It’s almost like Islam … radicalized Islam in a way,” said Beck. “Radicalized Islam is less about religion than it is about politics. When you look at the Reform Judaism, it is more about politics.”

ADL National Director Abraham Foxman, says Beck’s comment, “demonstrates his bigoted ignorance.” More:

Despite his feeble attempt to suggest that he was not equating Reform Judaism with Islamic extremist terrorism, the simple fact that he would mention them in the same breath is highly offensive and outrageous. Glenn Beck has no business discounting the faith of any people, and he should think twice before commenting on something he doesn’t know much about. He owes the Reform movement an apology.

No comment from the Beck camp today, but TVNewser has learned Beck will address it on his radio show tomorrow.
