Accused Scammer Told CNBC in May ’08 “It Is Fun Being a Billionaire”

R. Allen Stanford is currently accused of cheating 50,000 customers out of $8 billion, and has gone missing. In the ABC News story this morning on Good Morning America, Stanford’s “flattering” interview with CNBC in May 2008 was brought up by Brian Ross.

In that interview, Stanford (who is referred to as “Sir Allen” throughout the segment) is profiled in a “World’s Richest” segment. In an ironic comment while discussing banks, he said, “I think we’re going to see a lot of problems surface during the first quarter of ’09.”
