ABC’s Dr. Richard Besser: Health Programming Can Make for ‘Incredibly Compelling Television’

By Alex Weprin

Today’s guest on the Morning Media Menu was Dr. Richard Besser, ABC News’ senior health and medical editor.

Besser discussed ABC News’ new global health series, Be the Change: Save a Life. He also shared his thoughts on the most important public health stories from 2010.

“The goal here is to really inspire people across the country and look at the little things they can do in their lives to save lives around the globe,” Besser told us.

Public health issues and global health were getting very little coverage. I think a reason for that was that when you focus on the problems, these stories can be very difficult to handle. But when you think about the solutions… it really makes for incredibly compelling television” he added.
