ABC Roundup: Secrets, China, Adoption

> The season premiere of ABC’s “Primetime: Family Secrets” was the top program (except for the All Star game) in the 10 o’clock hour last night in both Total Viewers and A18-49 demo. The show drew 7 million Total Viewers up from last summer’s debut of 5.8 million.

> Two days before the Olympics on NBC, ABC’s Bob Woodruff will present a special edition of Primetime. “China Inside Out” will examine the so-called Chinese Century. As that country continues its explosive growth, lifting millions out of poverty, there is growing concern about the toll it’s taking on the nation and its 1.3 billion residents. The program premieres August 6 at 10pmET/PT.

> Tomorrow night on Nightline, Cynthia McFadden follows a woman named Cynthia Guditus in her search of her birth mother. Along the way, McFadden probes whether it’s a good idea for adopted children to search out and contact their biological parents. McFadden, herself, is adopted.
