The father of ABC News senior producer Danielle Baum Rossen, and father-in-law of NBC News correspondent Jeff Rossen was killed Saturday night as he and his wife tried to hail a cab on Manhattan’s East Side.

80-year-old Rubin Baum was run over by a car that ran a red light, that also crashed into a minivan reportedly carrying a diplomat from Pakistan.

Baum pushed his wife Denise, 62, out of the way, saving her life. Denise Baum talked with WABC on Sunday. That report is after the jump.

WABC reports Denise and Rubin Baum met 40 years ago while they were both hailing a cab and ended up getting in the same one.

Danielle Rossen is the senior producer of “What Would You Do?” on ABC while Jeff Rossen leads the “Today” show investigative unit.
