Robin Roberts is back hosting the pre-Oscars special on ABC, along with a one-hour special on Feb. 17 called “Countdown to the Oscars: 15 Movies That Changed American Cinema.” Both specials are produced by ABC News.
“Countdown to the Oscars,” produced by longtime ABC Newser John Green, who also oversees Roberts’ Rockin Robin Productions, tells the back-stories of 15 memorable films.
Roberts will be joined by Lara Spencer and Michael Strahan to host the pre-Oscars Red Carpet special on Feb. 22 at 7pmET. For the first time, that special will be produced by ABC News’s Lincoln Square Productions.
Ben Sherwood, the former president of ABC News who now runs the Disney/ABC Television Group, has moved non-scripted, non-reality content to the ABC News division of the company. Back in October, “The View” moved from the ABC entertainment to ABC News.
The 87th Academy Awards air on Sunday, Feb. 22 on ABC.
