I’m pleased to share that Daniel Linden is joining ABC News as our Global Head of Social Media.

As the newest member of our Audience Development team, Daniel will help set the overall social strategy and define the ABC News voice on each social channel. He will also work with the social editors from the broadcast teams and share editorial best practices for show accounts, as well as those of our correspondents and anchors. Reporting to Terry Hurlbutt, Daniel will coordinate social outreach across ABC News.

During breaking news and special events, Daniel will also work closely with Subrata De, David Reiter, Dennis Powell and the Newsgathering team.

An Emmy-award winning producer, Daniel brings a profound sense for the social ecosystem and a wide range of experience producing and distributing content across all forms of media.

He joins us from NBC News where he spent nearly a decade at NBC Nightly News. In his most recent role as Producer, Digital Strategy, Daniel was responsible for establishing and growing the broadcast’s social media presence. Prior to this role, Daniel was the Line Producer for the broadcast from 2011-2013. He was involved in the planning and production for major events and was integral in breaking news coverage. In 2010, Daniel was recognized with both an Emmy and an Edward R. Murrow Award for his role in the breaking news coverage of the “Miracle on the Hudson.”

A graduate of Hofstra University with a degree in Communications, Daniel joined NBC in 2005 as part of its Page program, before working as a desk assistant and researcher. A native New Yorker, Daniel spent 14 years as a volunteer firefighter and EMT. He currently resides in New York City with his wife, Lisa.

Daniel will be an invaluable member of the team, as we continue to evolve our social strategy and grow our digital audience.

Please join me in welcoming him to ABC News!
