A Web-Savvy Version Of ‘World News’

ABC’s 15-minute daily newscast, “World News Webcast,” was downloaded 5.2 million times in September via ABCNews.com and iTunes, and 5.2 million times so far this month too. It’s developed for an audience who doesn’t watch the evening news, THR reports.

“What it has become is much more of a broadcast aimed at people who use the Web and who are much more Web-savvy than people who watch the broadcast,” EP Jon Banner says. “You still get a lot of things that are on the broadcast every evening, but they’re done in a much more Web-friendly style.”
