Incoming White House Press Secretary Sean Spicer says “at least the first couple” press briefings will be held in the White House Press Briefing Room. Spicer’s comments follow Pres.-elect Trump’s explanation to FNC’s Ainsley Earhardt about how the transition team came to the decision to keep the briefings in the White House.
“We get a lot of people showing up for press conferences, including briefings and the room is too small,” Trump said. “So we said we’re going to move it to a larger room in a nearby area. And the press went crazy. So I said let’s not move. But some people in the press will not be able to get in.”
“We’ll host the first meeting in the James Brady briefing room,” Spicer said this morning. “It’s going to be a little cramped, I imagine. But that’s where we’ll hold at least the first couple of briefings for now.”
At this final news conference yesterday, Pres. Obama said to the press, “having you in this building has made this place work better.”
