A Night of Nightly

TVNewser had a front row seat for tonight’s broadcast of the NBC Nightly News at 6:30pmET. Helmed by senior producer Subrata De, with new Washington bureau chief Mark Whitaker looking on, about a dozen employees put together the show in a small skybox in the Pepsi Center.

The first block ended just as Sen. Hillary Clinton was being led to the microphone. Because of the breaking news, Williams followed with an updated Nightly at 7:00pmET. Chuck Todd and Ann Curry were in and out of the makeshift greenroom as the broadcast progressed.

“It’s been a full day,” Williams said, who interviewed Michelle Obama earlier today. And the night was really just beginning.
