616 In A Row For Today

By Chris Ariens

The NYDaily NewsRichard Huff writes about the Today show’s winning streak, now at 616 weeks. Today’s EP Jim Bell, who’s been at the helm since April, 2005 tells Huff, “When I came in, it was all but decided [Good Morning America was] going to pass us, and that didn’t happen. The summer when Katie [Couric] left, people thought we were vulnerable. A lot of smart people thought it was a fait accompli: it hasn’t happened yet.”

But Jim Murphy, who heads up GMA, tells Huff it could happen. “I think there’s a very good chance that we’re going to pass them,” Murphy says. “I’m not going to guarantee it, I’m not an idiot. But, I think we have a good chance.”
