2 Million Watch ‘Rally to Restore Sanity’ on Comedy Central

By Alex Weprin

The numbers are in, and Comedy Central says that two million people tuned in to watch the “Rally to Restore Sanity and/or Fear” on the channel Saturday, from noon to 3 PM ET. The rally was also televised in full on C-SPAN, and was streamed on Comedycentral.com.

An additional 570,000 people streamed the event on their computer or smartphone.

How does that compare to Glenn Beck’s “Restoring Honor” rally in August?

We don’t know.

Beck’s rally was only televised in full on C-SPAN, which does not subscribe to Nielsen ratings reports. As a result, the numbers for the two rallies on that channel are unknown.
