MSNBC and CNN carried live the White House’s first Twitter Town Hall this afternoon, in which questions were Tweeted to President Obama. Fox News mentioned the event a few times and livestreamed it all on FoxNews.com. The president also sent his first Tweet from a laptop in the East Room. The tweet was sent from the @WhiteHouse account, not from @BarackObama, which is his campaign’s account. With 8,991,824 followers, @BarackObama is the third most-popular account after Lady Gaga and Justin Bieber.
In all 169,395 #AskObama Tweets were sent. The four biggest topic areas were:
- Jobs – 18,957
- Budget – 15,000
- Taxes – 14,777
- Education – 8,833
