Expanding its Metro Traffic business to other platforms, Westwood One announced Tuesday (Jan. 5) it acquired Sigalert from Jaytu Technologies, for undisclosed terms.

Currently available in Northern California and Arizona, Westwood plans to expand Sigalert’s traffic products, which displays traffic information on the Web and mobile devices, from eight markets to 65 in 2010.

“It is a perfect platform for Westwood One to expand our digital business and provide the most useful online traffic information to our radio, television and digital affiliates,” said Rod Sherwood, president and chief financial officer for Westwood One.
