Former Weinstein Co. executive John Miller has been named senior vp, original productions and development for WE tv and its spinoff property, Wedding Central.
In his new role, Miller will develop original programming and serve as executive in charge of production on all network-produced series and specials. Based in New York, Miller will report to Kim Martin, president and general manager, WE tv and Wedding Central.
Most recently, Miller served as executive vp of television at The Weinstein Co., where he oversaw all domestic TV production and development. Among the series Miller steered include: Project Runway, Models of the Runway and the HBO/BBC strip, The No. 1 Ladies Detective Agency.
Before joining The Weinstein Co., Miller put in time at Touchstone Television and MTV. During his eight-year tenure with MTV, Miller supervised and produced a number of series, including The Tom Green Show and Jackass.
“John is a dynamic television executive who has a strong track record of overseeing and developing shows that resonate with audiences,” Martin said. “I am confident that John will bring new vitality and ideas … that will excite viewers and allow our sales teams to continue presenting a strong product in the marketplace.”
Along with the new hire, WE also promoted Elizabeth Dorée to senior vp of scheduling and acquisitions, up from vp. Terence Coffey has been upped to vp, promotional strategy from director.
In her new role, Dorée responsibilities will expand to include the creation and implementation of strategic plans for both networks’ scheduling, acquisitions and on-air promotion departments. A nine-year WE tv vet, Dorée reports to Martin.
Coffey is charged with developing on-air promotion scheduling and break architecture. He reports to Dorée.
