A trio of breakout freshman series—Atlanta, The Handmaid’s Tale and This Is Us—racked up the most nominations today as the Television Critics Association announced its 2017 TCA Awards nominees.

The TCA, which is comprised of more than 200 North American TV critics and journalists (including myself), honors outstanding television programming. The organization often recognizes acclaimed shows that Emmy voters overlook—like The Leftovers, which today nabbed two nominations—and can give a boost to freshman series hoping to break into the Emmy field when those nominations are announced on July 13.

In addition to those three shows, this year’s nominees include a number of freshman series and miniseries, all of whom are also hoping to make a dent in Emmy nominations next month: Big Little Lies, Feud: Bette and Joan, Stranger Things, The Good Place and The Crown all landed three nominations apiece, while Fleabag was nominated twice.

While the TCA Awards do not separate their acting categories by gender, women dominated both the comedy and drama categories, which featured acclaimed performances by Elisabeth Moss (The Handmaid’s Tale), Carrie Coon (The Leftovers and Fargo), Nicole Kidman (Big Little Lies), Julia Louis-Dreyfus (Veep), Issa Rae (Insecure) and Phoebe Waller-Bridge (Fleabag).

Atlanta, Big Little Lies, Stranger Things, The Handmaid’s Tale, The Leftovers and This Is Us will compete for the most coveted award, Program of the Year.

HBO led the networks with 12 nominations overall, followed by FX (11), Netflix (10) and NBC (7).

Winners will be announced Aug. 5 at the Beverly Hilton Hotel, in a ceremony hosted by Kristin Chenoweth.
