Taking further steps to expand and grow Mega TV, Spanish Broadcasting System Wednesday (May 12) added two new top executives.
To head up programming, SBS turned to Jose Perez, a 20 year TV executive who was most recently senior vp of entertainment and programming development for Univision Network.
At Univision, Perez headed up creation and production of daytime and primetime shows including Despierta America, Control Caliente, Fuera de Serie, El Super Blablazo, Estamos Unidos, A Million, and Los Metiches, among others.
Camilo Bernal was named manager of affiliate relations. He joined SBS from Worldvibe Entertainment Group, where he managed sales and business development.
“José and Camilo have been integral members of the broadcasting community and are vital additions to Mega TV,” said Albert Rodriguez, who was named general manager of Mega TV in February. “We are pleased to welcome them to the Mega TV family and look forward to working closely with them to build our brand, continue to add compelling and unique content, and expand into new markets.”
Broadcast from WSBS-TV, SBS Miami flagship for Mega TV, the network is distributed nationally through DirecTV Mas. It has also signed affiliation agreements in key Hispanic markets including New York, Chicago, Dallas, Fresno, and Palm Springs, reaching 30 percent of the Hispanic market.
