It probably sounds really shallow but it's Instagram, just because it's the fastest way for me to see what my children are doing in New York. I also like to check out USAToday.com for quick, little nuggets of information and updates on medicine and health issues. What other social media platforms do you use? I like Twitter. AOL is still my all-time favorite, which I know makes me sound really old, as [my daughters] Gigi and Bella tell me. When we interviewed your daughter [model Gigi Hadid], she said that you're always calling her with questions about social media. It's so true. I don't know anything about it, and if it wasn't for my kids, I wouldn't be on social media. They actually taught me how to use Twitter and Instagram when I was sick with Lyme disease and in bed for nine months. What's the best social media advice you've gotten from your kids? In the beginning, they were telling me, "Don't use too many hashtags, don't do this." They studied everything I was doing. I guess what I've learned about it is it's a quick way of networking and a great way of getting to know a lot of people. It's been pretty extraordinary for me to learn how small the world is. All of a sudden, I'm talking to people that I went to school with in Holland 40 years ago. Who do you follow? I follow the kids, their agencies, Oprah, my husband [David Foster], the David Foster Foundation, Harper's Bazaar, Vogue, Teen Vogue, InStyle. And of course I follow Andy Cohen and Bravo. What's your favorite app? My favorite app is AstrologyZone by Susan Miller. If you believe in astrology, it's a fun thing to do. What TV shows do you watch? I'm not a big TV person, but David and I are fans of PBS. Do you watch your own show? I have to watch it every week to write my blog on BravoTV.com. Are you usually happy with how you're portrayed? It doesn't always work in your favor, but it's part of the job. It's not a scripted show, so everything is something that comes out of your mouth—it's just that sometimes it gets edited in order to create a little more sensation. But it's pretty true to who we are as human beings. What's on your reading list? Lyme, Lyme, and more Lyme disease studies. It's definitely 80 percent of what I read about every day. Right now I'm reading a lot of research from a doctor named Alan MacDonald. How do you wind down at night? I'm an old-time romantic, so my favorite thing is to snuggle up with my husband and talk. Once we moved into our new home, I said that I wanted all electronics out of our bedroom. No TV, no plugs for iPhones, none of that. I think that all of this technology has taken over our lives, and we don't really have the time and space anymore to connect with ourselves and the people closest to us.
