Randi Goldklank resigned her position as vp and general manager of WHDH and WLVI, Sunbeam Television’s NBC and CW affiliates in Boston. Her resignation follows her court appearance last Friday (June 13) to face charges filed in April of disorderly conduct, resisting arrest and assault and battery on a police officer at Logan International Airport. Since then, she has been on administrative leave.
“I have decided to resign my position at WHDH and WLVI to continue focusing on getting healthy. I appreciate the support I have received from Ed Ansin [president of Sunbeam] and my friends and colleagues at WHDH and WLVI. I look forward to returning to work in the broadcast industry in the near future,” Goldklank said in a statement on the station’s Web site.
Chartes of assault and battery on a policy officer was dismissed. The other charges were continued without a finding for one year. As part of the settlement Goldklank apologized to State Police and Delta Airline employees. She has to make restitution for an officer’s glasses that were broken during the incident. Goldklank has also agreed to abstain fro alcohol and non-prescription drugs and continue therapy and counseling.
Ansin, in a statement, called Goldklank “a talented executive.”
“This has been an unfortunate circumstance. We wish her great sucess,” he said.
