National Cable Communications has elevated Greg Schaefer to president and CEO, effective immediately.

Schaefer, who joined NCC in November 2002 as chief operating officer, was promoted to president of the spot-cable firm on Jan. 1, 2004. On that same day, CEO Tom Olson stepped down after a five-year stint at the helm of NCC.

During his tenure with the Manhattan-based NCC, Schaefer has led the company to record growth, with sales reaching $1 billion in 2008.

Schaefer has over 30 years of experience in ad sales and management under his belt, on both the station and representation sides.
