NBC has secured its potent Sunday Night Football franchise through 2013.
NBC Sports and the NFL on Wednesday announced a two-year extension to their $600 million-per-year contract, which will keep SNF on NBC for the 2012 and 2013 football seasons.
NFL clubs approved the extension at a league meeting Wednesday in Chicago.
As with the original six-year agreement, which runs through the 2011 season, NBC will broadcast 16 regular-season SNF games, each season’s NFL Opening Kickoff Thursday-night prime-time game, both Wild Card Saturday games and preseason games in prime time.
