NBC capitalized on the Tiger Woods factor in its Sunday, June 15 telecast of the U.S. Open golf tournament, which spilled over into prime time (airing from 3 p.m. to 9 p.m.) and produced its highest overnight rating for the tournament in six years, an 8.5/18, up 21 percent over last year, according to Nielsen Media Research data.
With Woods in the hunt for the title, the telecast was also the third best for a Sunday in U.S.
