Charles Ergen has decided to give up the president and CEO positions of EchoStar Corp., with Michael Dugan returning to the company to take them over. Ergen will remain chairman of the technology sibling of satellite TV firm Dish Network.

Dugan served in several executive roles, including president and COO, at the formerly combined company, from 1990-2004. That was before EchoStar’s spinoff from Dish occurred in Jan. 2008.

“Mike was the chief architect behind the technological foundation for EchoStar and Dish Network, and I am pleased to welcome him back into the company he helped build,” said Ergen.
