Mediaweek TV: The Wizardry of Dr. Oz

First there was Dr. Phil. Then, Rachael Ray. Now comes Oprah Winfrey’s latest export: The Dr. Oz Show. But whereas the former two daytime strips were co-productions between Winfrey’s Harpo Productions and CBS Television Distribution, The Dr. Oz Show is being co-produced by Sony Pictures TV.

Launching Sept. 14, Oz’ health and wellness series could provide stiff competition for CBS’s Dr. Phil spinoff The Doctors—not to mention Dr. Phil himself.

In an exclusive video interview, Mediaweek correspondent Alan Frutkin talks with Oz about the show’s focus, Winfrey’s influence, and his own struggle with self-improvement.
