Midway through its 20th cycle, CBS’s groundbreaking contest show Survivor has proven to be one of TV’s most durable nonscripted formats. And guiding viewers for each of those cycles through the physically grueling challenges—not to mention the strategically grueling tribal votes—has been host Jeff Probst.
Mediaweek correspondent Alan Frutkin talks with Probst about the show’s fans, formula and, perhaps most importantly, future.
Following CBS’s NCAA March Madness coverage, Survivor returns April 1 to its regular Thursday night time slot at 8 p.m.
Also, in this bonus clip, Probst talks about his ill-fated side project Live for the Moment, which premiered on CBS in January to low ratings.
