Mediaweek TV: Fox’s The Cleveland Show

Announcements of TV spinoffs generally draw sighs of boredom—if not exasperation—from advertisers seeking creativity on the networks. But when it comes to Family Guy spinoff The Cleveland Show, all bets are off. In fact, fans of Family Guy are hoping The Cleveland Show can replicate and maintain the awesome level of outrageousness that’s become a hallmark of the original.

Mediaweek correspondent Alan Frutkin talks with Cleveland Show executive producers Mike Henry and Rich Appel, and actors Sanaa Lathan and Kevin Michael Richardson about the new series, its African-American “soul” and how they choose the right voices for their characters.
