What’s the first information you consume in the morning?
I usually look at my phone and just kind of check my emails and text messages first to see if anything’s been happening overnight. And then I go to my Instagram.
Do you get all the Google Alerts for yourself and your family?
I used to. I actually just cancelled them because I’m trying to simplify my life. My sisters were so surprised that it took me this long to finally cancel them. It felt so good.
What are your go-to social media platforms?
I do Twitter and Instagram, but that’s probably it. I follow all my friends, but I feel bad because sometimes when I’m at a friend’s birthday breakfast or something and I Instagram a picture and I tag them, they get so many follower requests. They have to make their accounts public or go back and change their name. But I also think that Instagram is a great tool for inspiration—I follow different fashion and interior decor and design accounts. And the fan accounts are fun, too; they get photos of us from so long ago. I’m like, “How did you get these from our childhood?”
Do you have to be selective about what you share on social media in order to maintain some element of surprise for the show?
I don’t really think of it in that way. We kind of just share whatever we’re feeling. But I do notice that, most of the time, when you’re having the most fun, you’re too busy to take a photo.
How do you get your news?
I don’t [laughs]. Just kidding! I don’t really, though. I just kind of get it through friends and family members. If any big news happens, there’s usually a mass email that goes out. Some of my friends have news alerts that go to their phones, but I don’t have that.
What do you watch on TV?
I don’t have time to watch much TV. We usually watch a kids movie every night, but that’s about it.
How do you wind down before bed?
Ugh, I don’t. Sometimes I can’t wind down and my mind just keeps going, so I’ll go on my computer and answer emails, or I’ll go online and look at inspiration for different interiors that I love. But I would say probably half the time I just fall asleep with my kids when I’m putting them to bed.
What are your favorite design sites or blogs?
There’s this one called Sissy+Marley that’s a kids blog. They have great interiors and cute kids fashions and toys—it’s kind of a kids lifestyle blog. My friend actually just launched a blog called The Hive Mag, which is all kid-related but also chic mommy stuff. And I love the Houzz app—you can buy directly from there, too.
What’s on your reading list?
I was just reading Osho’s The Book of Children. It was fascinating. I just love reading books about children and parenting. That’s pretty much all I read!
