Hearst Television has agreed to clear Estrella TV (Liberman Broadcasting’s new Spanish-language TV network) on the digital channel of WKCF, the company’s CW affiliate in Orlando. The affiliation deal, announced Thursday (July 16), is the second Estrella TV deal for Hearst, which last week agreed to clear the new Hispanic network on the digital channel of KOAT-TV, its ABC affiliate in Albuquerque.
Set to launch in mid-August, Estrella TV has signed a number of affiliation agreements, including Liberman’s owned-and-operated stations in Dallas, Houston and New York. Orlando is the 18th-largest Hispanic market.
“We are always looking for ways to better serve our large and growing Hispanic population,” said Jim Carter, president and general manager of Hearst’s Orlando duopoly, WESH and WKCF.
Estrella TV’s slate of original programming includes musical-variety, comedy, scripted drama, talk and game shows, a daily national newscast and a news magazine show.
