Harlan to Handle NFL Color For Westwood One

Sports broadcaster Kevin Harlan will join Boomer Esiason in the broadcast booth providing the play-by-play for Monday Night Football and Super Bowl XLV on Westwood One. He succeeds Marv Albert, who decided to shave his schedule after eight seasons.

Harlan is the fifth regular Monday Night Football play-by-play announcer since CBS Radio/Westwood One began broadcasting the games in 1978.

“Anyone who has ever heard Kevin call a game knows exactly why we are thrilled to add an announcer of his caliber to our NFL talent roster – full-time,” said Gary Schonfeld, president of Westwood One network. “Fans, stations and advertisers are going to be very happy this fall.”

Harlan was Westwood’s play-by-play voice of select Monday Night Football games throughout the 2009 NFL season, as well as for the NCAA Men’s Basketball Final Four from 2003-2007. He currently calls NFL games for CBS Sports, where he has worked since 1998.

His credits also include Fox Sports and serving as the radio voice for the Kansas City Chiefs and the Minnesota Timberwolves. Harlan is well known for his basketball broadcasts including CBS Sports’ coverage of the NCAA Men’s Tournament and the NBA on TNT for more than a decade.

Westwood One’s NFL coverage begins Sunday, Sept. 12, and continues each Sunday through Jan. 2, 2011.
