Dick Ebersol, chairman of NBC Sports and producer of eight Olympics Games, has resigned.

According to The New York Times’ Richard Sandomir, Ebersol is stepping down after failing to come to an agreement on contract negotiations and will be replaced by Mark Lazarus, who in February was named president of NBC Sports Cable Group. Ebersol’s departure comes only a few months after the Comcast takeover of NBCUniversal and the immediate question was whether it was caused by clashes with Comcast's new executive suite at the network.
