This week, Katie Couric is planning to confirm what the New York Times’ Media Decoder calls “one of the worst kept secrets in television”—that she’s leaving her anchor seat at the “CBS Evening News.” Sources who spoke to the Times also said that after Couric returns from reporting on the Royal Wedding this Friday, CBS will announce her successor.

Couric’s contract expires on June 4, and CBS supposedly wants a month for a transition.“60 Minutes” Scott Pelley is expected to replace Couric, and CBS is currently interviewing candidates for executive producer of his newscast, the sources said.
