CBS' Guiding Light Draws to Close

Two years ago, Guiding Light executive producer Ellen Wheeler gathered her cast and crew for an announcement. “We are on a plane and the engine light is on,” she said. “I’m going to have to make some changes to keep this going.”

And make changes she did. Wheeler and company began shooting twice a week in the village of Peapack, N.J., far from the show’s Manhattan soundstage, which was renovated to accommodate a new visual style and work method.
