The Emmy time-shifting is dead.

After a backlash firestorm against CBS’ plan to time-shift eight categories from the live Primetime Emmy ceremony, the network is backing off.

All 28 categories slated for the Sept. 20 broadcast will continue to be awarded live.

Last month, Don Mischer, executive producer for this year’s Primetime Emmy Awards, proposed and the Academy of Television Arts & Sciences’ board of governors voted to approve a time-shift of eight awards.

The proposal included best movie and best miniseries; writing for drama series and writing for movie/miniseries; directing for movie/miniseries and directing for variety, music and comedy series; and supporting actor and actress in TV movie/miniseries.
