Long-running CBS daytime serial As the World Turns, which premiered on April 2, 1956 in a live half-hour format and has amassed 58 Daytime Emmy Awards over the years, will conclude it’s over five decade run in September 2010. Top rated from 1959 to 1971, As the World Turns switched to color in 1967 and expanded to one hour in 1975. In 1965, it spun off short-lived prime-time drama Our Private World.

“Throughout our history, As The World Turns has remained dedicated to sharing compelling stories that have entertained fans for more than five decades,” said executive producer Chris Goutman.
