Three weeks after escaping its Friday night death slot, Ugly Betty’s luck has run out.

ABC will close the book on the one-hour dramedy in April, giving series executive producer Silvio Horta an opportunity to bring wrap up the various storylines. The network relayed the news to the cast and crew on Wednesday.

“We’ve mutually come to the difficult decision to make this Ugly Betty’s final season, and are announcing now as we want to allow the show ample time to write a satisfying conclusion,” said Horta and ABC Entertainment Group chairman Steve McPherson, in a joint statement.
