CarMax Awards Its Media Business

CarMax has awarded its media planning and buying business to Horizon Media, the automotive retailer confirmed. The selection came after a review in which OMD and Vizeum were the other finalists, sources said. Media spending approaches $70 million a year, according to Kantar Media. The assignment previously was in house.

Coca-Cola Shifts Its Media Account in Mexico

MediaCom has continued its new business streak by adding Coca-Cola's media business in Mexico, according to sources. Annual media spending is estimated at $100 million.The shop, a unit of WPP Group's GroupM, succeeds Publicis Groupe's Starcom on the business. Starcom had handled the account for more than a decade.

Kohler Gets a New Agency for Media as Well

Just after naming the Chicago office of DDB as its new creative agency, Kohler has moved its media planning and buying business to PHD.The media shift came after a review with undisclosed contenders. Incumbent Vizeum, a Dentsu Aegis shop, did not defend. PHD and DDB are both units of Omnicom Group.

Anyway, BMW's Mini, as part of its "Not Normal" campaign, worked with agencies Iris and Vizeum over the summer to personalize content to drivers of its cars on nine consecutive digital billboards along a busy London motorway.
