New Leibovitz Images Show More Celebs as Disney Icons

Two new teaser images from Annie Leibovitz's Disney Dream Portrait series have been released as a prelude to a massive magazine ad blitz coming this fall from mcgarrybowen in New York. The first depicts Russell Brand as Captain Hook about to be devoured by the crocodile. The second shows Jack Black, Will Ferrell and Jason Segel as the hitchhiking ghosts from the Haunted Mansion ride (they show up at the end to hitchhike in your car). As usual, Leibovitz manages to capture the essence of both the stars and the Disney characters they’re portraying. (You can see many of the photos from the collection on this gallery maintained by the blog Inside the Magic.) All the portraits will appear in special inserts running in a glut of magazines this fall, including Vanity Fair, Leibovitz’s old stomping grounds. Check out a behind-the-scenes video of the Hitchhiking Ghost photo shoot after the jump. Via the Disney Parks Blog.

Macallan Whisky Adorns Bottles With Annie Leibovitz Photos

"Limited-edition whisky bottles labeled with Annie Leibovitz's photos." When I first read that headline on PSFK, about a promotion by Macallan whisky, my initial thought was: Putting pictures of Annie Leibovitz on bottles won't sell whisky. Ha! I crack myself up.

Annie Leibovitz Turns Personal Trainer for Nike Print Ads

As we mentioned earlier, Nike hired Annie Leibovitz, who shot roughly every iconic celebrity photograph between 1970 and probably a minute ago, to photograph its fall 2011 print campaign. The theme, built around seven female sports figures, is "Make yourself," which the company says is meant to inspire women to "achieve their goals and become the best 'versions' of themselves." My guess is that these toned, photogenic athletes are pretty far along in that process. The athletes featured are tennis players Maria Sharapova and Li Na, runners Allyson Felix and Perri Shakes-Drayton, soccer player Hope Solo, dancer Sofia Boutella, and surfer Laura Enever. The ads will run in Seventeen, InStyle, and Glamour. More images after the jump.
